Quote for the week

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” – THE SERENITY PRAYER

Finding Peace and Growth by Focusing on What You Can Control

As women, we wear many hats and often feel like we are losing control. One valuable lesson is focusing on what we can control, which promotes personal and professional growth.

Personal Anecdote: The Overprotective Mom

I have a knack for bringing stress into my life all by myself. But my biggest challenge? Being overprotective of my loved ones, especially my kids.

I recently listened to Shankar Vedantam’s “Hidden Brain” podcast episode, “Why Trying Too Hard Can Backfire on You.” Thinking it would help my son, I sent it to him. His response? A polite but firm request to stop sending such links. Ouch!

For a moment, I was offended. But then I realized I was trying to control something beyond my reach—his life. Sometimes, it’s better to focus on ourselves and the things we can control. My overprotective instincts needed to be reined in for the sake of peace and healthy relationships. Lesson learned
