Every day, we face choices—whether to help, to show up, to take action, or to walk away.

Most people are quick to find reasons not to do something: “I’m too busy.” “It’s too late for me.” “I’m not ready yet.” “It won’t make a difference.”

Recently, I attended an event where the organizers needed help. But instead of stepping up, many offered excuses. It wasn’t that they didn’t care—it’s just that they couldn’t find one good reason to say yes.

This got me thinking—how often do we do this in our own lives?

We all have goals that sit quietly in the background. Maybe it’s getting back in shape, going back to school, building that business, or writing that book. But excuses sneak in. Time, fear, doubt, and comfort become roadblocks.

In our personal journeys—whether as parents, partners, professionals, or dreamers—we’ll always have plenty of reasons to say “not now.” But we only need one reason to say “yes.”

That reason becomes the anchor. The motivator. The quiet voice that keeps us going when nothing else does.

So this week, I encourage you to pause and ask:

“What’s my one reason to do this?” It doesn’t have to be loud, dramatic, or social-media worthy. It just needs to be enough—for you.

Whatever your reason—health, passion, legacy, family, fulfillment—find it. Hold it. Let that one reason move you forward when everything else says “don’t.”

Because sometimes, all it takes to succeed… is one.
